Happy new year! I think this is my first post of 2018, but I realised while getting gas that I don’t have a photo of the fuel filler cap.
Aside from the driving experience and the styling, Ferrari still manage to give you a few other things that feel special.
The fuel filler cap is made of billet aluminium. It feels like it weighs over a pound, so there is no permanent attachment to the car. So while fuelling I place the cap on the concrete crash barrier.
This tank I’ve averaged around 12.5 mpg.

I keep meaning to take a picture of mine as well. I want to write an article on all the unique things on the 348.
I place mine on the top of the fuel pump on the same side as the receipt. I’m always terrified I’ll forget it though haha

Looking forward to this. I had brief custody of a 348 Challenge, and I LOVED the metal steering column stalks.

I think I actually met the owner of that car when he was in LA last June. I love the stalks too. The bright operation is horrible though. I think they designed it after a two bottle lunch. It’s behind another stalk and moves up and down instead of in and out. Damn Italians ;)
The article is on my to-do list, I’ve just been way too busy with life to put in the effort to document everything. I will do it by the end of 2018, promise!

The gas caps on my dads 1975 FJ40 are so pleasant to use. So heavy and blunt. Could kill someone with one thrown like a baseball.

Well my fuel cap is plastic and has a little perch on the filler door.

That is sexy. Willing to engineer weight out of the rest of the car so that you have have a good experience pumping fuel - that is Ferrari.

I don’t think these are street legal in the US.

Perch makes sense if it’s lightweight.

To be fair, the F355 was not a lightweight in its day, at just under 3000 lbs. The interior was fairly kitted out too, with full leather and carpets covering every surface.
